Join us for the 2023 FLL Challenge Team

We are excited to announce that we are forming our very first team to participate in the 2023 First LEGO League (FLL) Challenge competition! If you've ever dreamt of diving into the fascinating world of robotics, researching real-world problems, and collaborating with a team of like-minded young inventors, please join us!

What is the First LEGO League (FLL) Challenge competition?

First LEGO League (FLL) is an international competition organized and operated by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) for elementary and middle school students. Each year, FLL releases a Challenge, which is based on a real-world scientific topic.

The FLL Challenge has three main components:

  • Robot Game: Teams design, build, and program a LEGO robot to autonomously complete a series of missions on a themed playing field within a set time period. This requires students to apply principles of robotics and programming.
  • Innovation Project: Teams must identify a real-world problem based on the year's theme, and then research, develop, and present an innovative solution to that problem.
  • Core Values: This component emphasizes the importance of teamwork, cooperation, and other essential life skills. Teams are evaluated on how well they work together and demonstrate these values, which include inclusion, cooperation, and respect.

Each year, the FLL Challenge concludes with regional, national, and global tournaments, where teams compete to demonstrate their robotics capabilities, present their innovation projects, and exhibit their understanding of the core values.

The FLL experience is not just about robots and competitions; it's about learning, teamwork, having fun, and taking on challenges. The competition provides kids with hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) experiences in a team-based environment, guiding them to apply real-world concepts in an engaging and dynamic way.

Why Join us?

  • Dive deep into STEM fields, enhancing your skills in science, technology, engineering, and math.
  • Collaborate, design, build, and program a robot to tackle this year's challenge.
  • Compete against other bright minds and showcase your team's innovation.
  • Develop essential life skills like teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving.

Commitment & Requirements:

  • Attendance: We expect a commitment to attend 95% of the scheduled meetings, both in-person and online. Consistent participation is crucial for our team's cohesion and success.
  • Fee: There is a $100 fee per member, which covers competition registration and essential materials. This investment ensures that we are well-prepared for the challenge.
